Go That Extra Step With Your Website
You may never need web hosting with all the bells and whistles, but that doesn’t mean you should get an account with as fewer services as possible. There are always ideas and inspirations that could strike at any time, and when you want to test out an idea for a new website feature, you will want to know that with a minimum of fuss, you will be able to trial it to determine if your idea is a viable one.
So remember to get just a few more features on your web hosting account than you think you currently need, because you never know how things turn out and what you will be needing in the future. You don’t need a database now, but if you were to start a blog or a forum, you will definitely be appreciating it then. You may only check your email at home, but sometimes you need to check your email while out travelling and find an internet cafe. At moments like that, a full featured webmail facility will be a blessing!
Your website may be only text now, but who knows if later on you want to put a few family photos online? How about when you want to start allowing family and friends to have email facilities at your website, such as a club or special interest group. You will want more than email redirectors then. You will more than likely be wanting proper accounts on your website with all the accessories such as webmail, address books, calendars and reminders. Keeping in mind if you want to start an online business, you will be needing other advanced things such as e-commerce software and online payment integration.
So plan for what you need now, but also leave yourself some room to stretch if you need to. You do not want to come up short when you want to quickly see if something is worth investing more time and effort into, without having to pay more money and have even more time taken up. Remember it’s better to have slightly more features right now, than to realise you have nothing to expand with later on.
